Stay Motivated to Eat Right – A Small How To
How Do You Stay Motivated to Eat Right?
You know eating right is important.
In fact, it’s essential to living a long, healthy, and enjoyable life.
But it isn’t easy when cravings and emotions fill your mind.
However, it just takes a few tips, tricks, and consistency to stay motivated.
Imagine the Consequences
If you don’t eat right, what will you experience that won’t be so fun to deal with?
Do you need to eat right to fix your blood pressure, prevent another heart attack, lose weight, or avoid stomach upsets?
Well, if you don’t eat right, you probably won’t avoid any of these consequences.
Anytime you feel the need to steer from your goal, think about your consequences first and just how uncomfortable they will be in comparison.
Avoid Temptations
Please don’t allow yourself to be oblivious to your temptations and give in.
Understand your temptations fully and make a commitment to avoid them.
Don’t buy unhealthy food to keep at home where you’ll be tempted to eat it.
Buy healthier snacks instead.
If you know your temptations often happen during lunchtime while at the office, for example, make it a habit to bring your lunch to work.
Don’t rely on yourself to make the right decisions every day, especially if tempatations easily present themselves.
Instead, be prepared for them with healthier options.
Make A Healthy Bet
A fun way to get on the right track for healthier eating is to to bet on it, healthily, of course.
Websites such as Dietbet.com make it easy and fun to do this.
Even if you don’t want (or need) to lose weight, often eating right leads in that direction and can be a great motivation to keep going.
Spice It Up
Be adventurous and try new foods.
If you don’t like something one day, that doesn’t mean you won’t like something new the next.
The more foods you try, the more you realize just how fun (and tasty) eating right can be.
Plus, you learn more about yourself as you discover your tastes.
Avoid Perfection
Don’t sweat the small stuff.
Often one unhealthy mistake can lead to another because guilt takes over and makes you wonder, “What’s the use of trying to eat healthy? I always mess up.”
But if you make one mistake, it won’t outdo all your progress unless you let it keep you making unhealthy choices.
Recognize your mistake and get back to healthy eating right away.
Plan Outings and Shopping Trips
Look at restaurant menus before going so you can be prepared beforehand.
You can usually access a restaurant’s menu on their website.
I find it really helpful to look at a restaurant’s menu ahead of time, especially the ones that also include the nutritional information (including calorie count) for each item on the menu.
Often, once I see the calorie count for a particular menu item, I decide to choose something lower in calories, with more fiber, etc.
Also, develop menus for the week and create shopping lists before you go to the store.
The point is to prepare yourself so you’ll be able to avoid tempting situations.
It is up to you, and only you, to discover what truly helps you stay motivated to eat right.
Be mindful of your habits and desires to create a successful plan of action to stay on the right path.
Try it!
