Day 19 – Healthy Living 30 Day Challenge
Welcome to Day 19 of my Healthy Living 30 Day Challenge, created to support my Yoganudge Facebook group
If you’re a member of my Facebook group, I hope you downloaded my self-study tutorial 21 Days of Yoga (which is free for my FB group members) and have started a regular yoga practice in the comfort of your own home.
And here is today’s Healthy Living Tip:
Get enough sleep. If need be, stop burning the candle at both ends.
Most people are so busy with work and families these days that it can be difficult to get enough sleep every night.
Yet adequate rest is essential for a healthy life.
And it’s healthier to stick to a regular sleep schedule every night instead of staying up late during the week and then trying to make up for lost sleep by sleeping late on the weekends.
If you find you can’t sleep well at night, here are some things that might help you get a more restful night’s sleep.
1. Try a sleep mask.
Block out all signs of light with a sleep mask and you’ll automatically feel like drifting off to sleep.
2. Use a sound machine to create peaceful sounds that help you sleep.
A sound machine can block out sounds that will keep you awake – trains, traffic, etc.
Instead, tune your sound machine to a relaxing sound – waves gently lapping to shore, a gentle rain, or some soothing music – and you’ll be asleep in no time.
Take your sound machine with you when you travel.
3. Be sure you have a comfortable pillow.
When you travel, don’t forget to take your favorite pillow with you, so you’ll have a comfortable night’s sleep no matter where you go.
4. Use an aromatherapy pack or herb sleep pillow.
You can make these yourself with some fabric, ribbon, and a few different herbs. Just place the sleep pillow under your regular pillow.
5. Relax with a natural (corn filled) heating pad.
These are great for warming the bed or easing aching muscles.
Just pop the pad in the microwave to heat up the corn, then put the pad between the sheets or place it on your aching neck, arm, shoulder, or other body part.

Please share it with us.

We have a tempurpedic bed that has a built in massager. I can turn it on and set it from 1-10 and just let my body relax into sleep. And since it cuts off automatically after 30 minutes, I don’t have to worry about staying awake to turn it off. The other thing that works for me is making sure the air is cool enough at night. I don’t sleep well if it is too warm.
