The Tricep Dip – The Best Exercise for Toning the Triceps
If you’re a woman of a certain age, you’re probably familiar with the term “bat wings” in reference to your upper arms.
As you get older, your upper arms tend to lose tone to such a degree that when you wave at someone, your upper arms wave, too, and they begin to look like bat wings.
Ugh…so what’s a woman to do?
Well, there are all sorts of exercises you can do to tone the triceps.
Yoga is great, since downward dog and other poses where you support a good portion of your body weight on your arms help keep your arm muscles well toned.
But here’s the one exercise that I think works the best at toning the triceps, and it isn’t a yoga pose.
It’s called the tricep dip or the bench dip.
The tricep dip is easy to do.
Well, okay, one or two tricep dips are easy to do.
50 tricep dips and your arms begin to wobble.
But, luckily, you don’t have to do that many tricep dips to see results.
You just need to do 30 or so on a consistent basis.
I’m trying to do them every day.
I just do 10 reps about 3 or 4 times during the day, instead of all at once.
Here’s a video I found on youtube that show the correct way to do tricep dips.
It’s worth watching because if you do tricep dips incorrectly, over time you can really do harm to your shoulders and arms.
Do you have a favorite exercise you do to tone your arms?
I’d love it if you shared it with us here in a comment.
