Bored by Yoga?
Today is Day 2 of the A to Z Blog Challenge.
My theme for this challenge is No Excuses, so each day this month (except Sundays), I’m going to blog about some excuse people tend to use for not taking up yoga or any other form of regular exercise or even for not eating right and otherwise taking good care of themselves.
So today’s excuse that many people use is they think yoga or any regular exercise will be boring.
True, some people are bored by yoga.
But that’s okay, as long as they don’t use this as an excuse for not getting any kind of regular exercise.
They may need to try something with a faster pace – like jogging, or volleyball, or tennis, for example.
Personally, though, I find yoga to be anything BUT boring.
There is always something new to discover about myself since yoga is a personal practice.
And each day I practice I get just a bit stronger, just a bit more flexible.
Plus, there are so many different types of yoga to explore.
Maybe today I’ll take a chair yoga class.
Tomorrow I’ll try restorative yoga.
Or I might take my yoga mat and head to the beach to practice on my own.
If I find I’m getting bored with a yoga routine, I’ll switch it up a bit or try a class with a different instructor.
There are all sorts of ways to keep yoga, or any type of regular exercise, fun and exciting.
So don’t use boredom as an excuse.
Just do something to get moving!
Namaste,
P.S. How do you keep your yoga practice fresh and fun?
Nice post. I am committed to my yoga practice but I still get bored sometimes, so I will keep your tips in mind. Mostly it’s just getting myself to class, once I am there I am okay.
I am also doing the A-Z challenge. I look forward to checking out your posts.
Hi, Ellen,
Thanks for dropping by. Maybe you need to switch up your yoga practice for a while. Try a different class or a different instructor. Some instructors tend to follow the same set of poses over and over again. It helps you get better at these poses, but it can get boring after awhile. Good luck with your practice!
