mind, body, spirit

I was introduced to Chair Yoga several years ago when I was having issues with my right hip.

I had trouble participating in regular yoga classes because I wasn’t able to put much pressure on the hip.

But with Chair Yoga, I didn’t have to.

All the poses in this class were practiced sitting in a chair or standing and using a chair for support.

Many of the poses were adaptations of regular Hatha yoga poses.

Chair yoga may sound like it couldn’t possibly provide much of a workout, but I was surprised at how strenuous some of the poses were.

It took a while to get into some of the poses and holding them for several seconds took concentration and strength.

But as I continued going to class each week and practicing the poses, they became easier as I became stronger.

If you have any health issues that make it impossible to practice other types of yoga, maybe Chair Yoga will work for you.

Can’t get out to a yoga class?

Watch this easy to follow video and practice Chair Yoga at home.
