Turmeric Golden Milk Recipe
If you have any kind of joint pain, here’s a warm drink you should consider trying. It’s called Golden Milk because it’s made with turmeric, which gives it a golden color. Turmeric has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties. And these days, turmeric is being used as a cure-all for everything from colds and flu to depression – so it’s worth trying.
First, you’ll need to make some turmeric paste. You’ll use this paste each time you want to prepare a mug of warm golden milk. This paste will stay good in your refrigerator for a week or longer.
Turmeric paste
½ cup of clean water
¼ cup of turmeric powder
½ teaspoon of ground pepper
Put water in a saucepan and put on medium heat. Add turmeric and pepper and stir well, so you create a smooth paste.
It takes about 7 to 9 minutes to get the paste properly cooked.
If it becomes too dry, you can add some more water.
To make golden milk you’ll need:
¼ teaspoon (or more if you like the taste) of turmeric paste
1 cup almond milk (you can also use cow’s milk, rice milk, or almost any kind of milk)
1 teaspoon of coconut oil or almond oil (this increases turmeric absorption)
Honey or other natural sweetener, like maple syrup
Put milk and turmeric paste in a pot. Stir until the paste dissolves into the milk and the mixture heats. Stir in the coconut oil or almond oil until it dissolves.
The mixture should be steaming but not boiling.
Remove from heat.
Pour the mixture into a coffeecup or mug.
Add the sweetener and stir until well blended.
Enjoy!
P. S. Note: If you’ve never tried anything with turmeric in it, first try a small amount of this spice to make sure you don’t have any sort of allergic reaction to it (most people don’t).
