Day 28 – Healthy Living 30 Day Challenge
Welcome to Day 28 of my Healthy Living 30 Day Challenge, created to support my Yoganudge Facebook group
If you’re a member of my Facebook group, I hope you downloaded my self-study tutorial 21 Days of Yoga (which is free for my FB group members) and have started a regular yoga practice in the comfort of your own home.
And now, for today’s Healthy Living Tip…
Practice Being More Compassionate
Healthy, happy people generally care for others as well as themselves, so practice being more compassionate for everyone’s sake.
Here are some ways to do that:
1. Volunteer
Volunteering can be a very rewarding experience.
Help those less fortunate by volunteering at a soup kitchen, rescue center, or local library.
If time is an issue, consider donating canned goods or books to such places.
2. Surround Yourself with Support
Make plans with the people you enjoy spending time with the most.
Catch up over coffee at your favorite restaurant, call a loved one you haven’t seen just to chat, or schedule a date with your significant other.
3. Avoid Gossip
Whether others gossip out of spite or boredom, it’s best to avoid these conversations.
Gossip not only hurts people, it also changes your perception of them, even if you didn’t mean it.
4. Consume Only Positive Content
If you watch or read about negative things, it can darken your own outlook and sour your mood.
Try to absorb only positive content and see if there’s an improvement in your perspective.
5. Be Encouraging
Find someone you can encourage today.
It could be as simple as greeting your cashier, leaving a big tip for your server, or letting someone know that you believe in their dreams.
6. Make New Friends
Broadening your circle of friends if fun and it gives you a chance to form healthy connections.
If you’re not sure where to start, consider using a website like MeetUp that allows you to find others who share your interests.

Volunteering is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. I hope to get back to it after I retire from my full-time job. Gossip is something I think about a lot. I still work a full-time job and our office dynamics can be worse than a soap opera. I try to stay positive and not give in to any gossip. Now, I am not perfect but one of the things I try to do is never say anything behind someone’s back because the moment I do, they will be standing right behind me. I also remember learning if you can’t say something nice about someone, just don’t say anything. Finally, I try to stay away from negativity, things and people. Life is too short not to be happy and positive.
